My steps are guided…even here in Madrid

Before I came to Spain, I prayed for a good church, great friends and of course I googled some of them. The one we all liked was a church called Immanuel Church in Madrid and I would have to take a train about 45 mins and another bus. But, I  got a really good one in my area (more info on previous posts). Anyways I met a girl in my church called Larissa and she has been an inspiration to me. It is so obvious that she is living for Christ and sharing love to everyone. She posted on her blog about a woman she helped out on the streets on Alcalá. The strange thing is that I have seen this woman too countless times, she sells goodluck herbs and I think she reads palms or something.  All the times my friends and I met she tried convincing us to by them and everytime I sensed something gloomy and dark about her. Well Larissa, met her also but she went the extra mile and talked to her, learnt from her that she was illeterate and the only job she could get was what she was doing.  She then decided to help her get a job and searched for jobs online and she also talked to her about Christ. She has spent her semester here helping kids, preaching the gospel, teaching english etc.

Yesterday, I went to my dairy and read the lists of things I wanted to do in Spain before returning to Ghana. I have done two things I have like four more to go.  I pray that God guides my step and I end up doing all of them.

Samaritans Purse

It is really easy to send one all you need is a shoe box. Then you have to wrap it and fill it with gifts and state whether it is for a girl or boy. To help with the transportation I will have to pay 5 euros and that’s it!!

I have a shoe box already so im quarter done. I need to fill it and wrap it..

P.S this is a little video on how it is done.

Besos 🙂

Un dia de esperanza

Entoces, oyó hoy que mi abuela falleció y  me sorprendió. Además no estoy a lado de mis padres para confortarles pero my grandma had been sick for a long time and my mum told me she died in her sleep peacefully. And, i am sure she is in heaven now so I am happy.

In my opinion she accomplished what God sent her to earth to do, she was a blessing to her community and the church. A fond memory I have of her is the fact that she loved crazy nail polish colours, even in her old age she would go get a pedicure and come back with purple nails. Maybe that is where I got my love for crazy nail colours. Im wearing colour orange right now and I have a huge grin on my face. Blood is thicker than water. Anyways I stumbled on this blogpost from about an old man who received an Australian award for saving lives.

Don is 84 years old and recently received a bravery medal and the Order of Australia, the country’s second highest civilian honor. He got the award because he saves lives. Here’s his story:

About 40 years ago, Don and his wife, Moya, bought a house overlooking Sydney Harbor. It’s an area called, “The Gap,” and their dream home had stunning views of the cliffs and the water. What they didn’t know when they bought the house was that across the street was the spot from which at least 50 people a year committed suicide by jumping off a cliff  to the rocks below.

Most people would have moved, but from the first day they arrived, Don decided to do something about it. Through his large picture window, he kept his eye on the area across the street. And if he saw someone lingering, he walked across the road, said hello, and offered them a cup of tea.

One morning, he saw a woman sitting on the edge of the cliff. “I quickly got dressed and went over. She had already put her handbag and shoes outside the fence, which is pretty common. They very often leave something behind.”

“I said to her, ‘Why don’t you come over and have a cup of tea?’ She came with me, and Moya made her breakfast. When she got home, she rang to say she was feeling much better. Two or three months later, she walked up the garden path with a magnum of French champagne.”

Over the years, he’s coaxed hundreds of people back from the edge with his invitation. But for some, his kind words were the last thing they heard. “I’m just trying to save a life,” he says. “I used to sell kitchen scales and bacon cutters. At the Gap, I’m trying to sell people life.” No wonder he’s known as the Angel at the Gap.

“Selling people life.” I love that phrase!

What if we all lived with that kind of generosity of heart? Spending our days, surveying the landscape with an eager vigilance, watching for those who linger at the brink, and inviting them over for tea…and the chance to live.

P.S  Let your life be a blessing to others and I likewise will try and follow this example.

Estoy enfermo :(

I have been sick for the past 3 days!!  I got the flu from my Profesor Gabriel.. I know it sounds unbelievable but our class is arranged in a semicircle and my desk is closest to him, so whenever he sneezes his germs are targeted straight at me. ¡ Que lastima! Thank God I brought along my cold medicine, and my chinese friend Luciana who seets next to me showed us(Liz and I) a small chinese store where we could get ginger!!  So I made my african flu concoction ; lemon, ginger and honey. It wasn’t perfect because it lacked “wintia”(a ghanaian spice).

Later went to my favourite organic shop it is called “Feel Good”. The owner Angél has become a good friend of ours. I bought my honey there and told him I had a cold. Immediately he brought out a sachet of eucalyptus and said I should buy this and respire the vapour. It has really helped because I wasn´t sure I could just go to a pharmacy and ask for a drug without a prescription. In times like this I really miss Ghana!!

P.S this is a picture of my class and the girl in the middle is Luciana, seems like I contaminated her with my flu.. !Espero que te mejores!

P.S.S See my chair is closest to the teacher’s desk the one with the desktop…that is why I got the flu. ¡Gabriel, FATAL! (inside joke)

Third time was the charm.

I am so excited, finally found a great church. There were people of different races, the music was better than what I have seen so far, there were of young people around. I loved the service, the people there were so friendly. I made a friend already Cristina, she was the usher who took my details. I was soo blessed to come this Sunday, because it was their fourth year anniversary so they took a group picture of all the people who came to church and next week there is a fiesta! I am definitely going.

The whole service was in Spanish but I understood everything. Most of the songs were english songs I knew but had been translated into spanish. The scripture John 4:24 is true ” For God is Spirit, those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth”. Language should not be a barrier.

Que tenga un domingo bendito!

First Salsa Class.

So, I thought salsa was easy. One step forward, one step back whilst winding your waist..well it´s more than that. There are turns and some steps I did not expect, I thought I was just going to go there and show them how Africans have got rhythm in their blood. All was going well with my dance teacher Luz till we came to the turns or pirouettes whatever they are called. The class is about an hour and half; the first forty five minutes we learnt how to dance the basic steps in Bachata(dominican dance) and the next forty five was dedicated to salsa. I went with my friend Yvonne, and she was pretty good at the turns. I was soo jeaulous! Anyways in my defence she is really sportive so that explains it.
